The List: A Little Monday Morning Pick-Me-Up

the-list

Is it just me, or was last week particularly rough? Everyday felt like Monday. Oy! So, in hopes of starting this week off on a cheery note, I’m sharing a couple of posts that had me rolling on the floor laughing this weekend. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did. Happy Monday!

5 Things Our Kids Don’t Know About Their Pre-Mama Mamas (Scary Mommy)

“Since when did I become a MOM?!” I can’t tell you how many times that thought has crossed my mind. It’s like there’s an internal “identity war” going on between the 20-something in me who still wants to go out, have fun and feel sexy, and the “mom” that thinks twice before wearing “scandalous” clothes and is too tired to stay out after 9 PM. When you enter motherhood, something magical happens that causes you to suit up and put on your metaphorical “mom jeans” everyday.

And although it might feel nice to travel back in time and revel in the glory of our “wonder years,” I think this quote sums it up pretty nicely (minus the cursing): “Before I uttered my first f-bomb or took my first jager bomb, before I knew anything else I’d ever want in my life, I knew I wanted you…Yes, you changed some things about me. But you gave me the most precious gift in return. You made my dream come true.”

Let’s Do It & Other Phrases That Change Meaning After Having Children (Life as a Rambling Redhead)

I discovered Jennifer’s blog last week. Her sense of humor about the trials (and triumphs) of parenthood are spot on, and I couldn’t help but laugh when I read this post (which was also picked up by Scary Mommy—how cool is that!). A few of my favorite phrases from her list include, “let’s do it,” “I’m too tired,” and “I love you.” Head over to her blog to see why, and let me know if you agree!

10 Things Your Blog & Your Baby Have in Common (A Kreative Whim)

Running a blog is like raising a second (or third) child. Well not exactly, but if you’re a blogger (especially a mom blogger) read this post, and you’ll quickly understand the reference. Here’s a sneak preview: 1) We joyfully proclaim their arrival to all of social media. 2) They keep you up at night. 3) Yours is the funniest, smartest and most adorable…and then you meet your friend’s…get the point? Head over to Kate’s blog to read the full list and get your daily fill of laughs!

Psst! I’m always looking for great new reads to add to The List! Have a post that you think would be a great fit? Send me an email, or leave a comment below!

If you think about it how many things are you doing to instruct your kids on that really are “do as I say not as I did myself.” try as we might though probably can’t get our kids to avoid all the mistakes we made … but maybe just a few.

Have something to say?
